Blogging Bootcamp Workshop at Lighthouse Writers

September 2, 2008

I’ll be facilitating a fun day-long “Blogging Bootcamp for Writers” on Saturday January 24th uh, 2009.

Where: Panera on 13th and Grant, Denver, CO

When: Saturday January 24th, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m

How: Sign up now at lighthousewriters.org

Who: Writers who want to blog, or think they should blog, or think they definitely should NOT blog, or who have a blog, but don’t know what to write about, or who don’t know if they need a blog or a Web site, or a blog AND a Web site, and how in the world do you find words to blog and Web AND finish your novel. Or just regular humans who are interested in this intriguing medium and want to know more.

Why blog? Ask Julie Powell, who blogged her way through 524 Julia Child recipes:

The benefits of blogging can be astounding (like for Julie and Julia), but the risks are not for the faint of heart (or timid of keyboard). Learn what a blog is not, what a blog can be, why writers blog, and if blogging could work for you. Find out about rules, tools, and blogging fools. Then, create your own blog using WordPress (bring your wi-fi enabled laptop) and become part of the blogosphere!

*January’s kind of a long way away. In the meantime, why not check out the other marvelous eight-week and one-day workshops? There are some nice ones coming up from the lovely and generous Janis Hallowell. Janis, the author of The Annunciation of Francesca Dunn and She Was, gives great workshop. She’s honest and funny and sort of magically sees through your freaked-out bullshit and says stuff that actually helps. I can’t recommend her workshops highly enough, partly because they’re not all super-workshoppy, if you know what I mean.
